The World Movie Awards Organization is in the process of establishing twelve regional headquarters and five supervisory offices across all seven continents. Once operational, these offices will host the annual Regional Awards for the World Movie Awards of Merit and will select regional winners to compete in the Global Awards for the World Movie Awards of Excellence.
Entries for the inaugural Regional Awards will be announced soon. Individual filmmakers will be able to submit their films through the regional website corresponding to their country of origin.
All submissions must align with the five domains of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) as defined by UNESCO’s convention. Eligible films should actively promote, safeguard, and raise awareness about the significance of these domains.
The five domains of ICH are:
- Oral Traditions and Expressions
Includes proverbs, riddles, folktales, legends, myths, epic poems, chants, charms, songs, and other spoken forms of cultural expression passed down through generations. - Performing Arts
Encompasses music, dance, theatre, pantomime, and other live performances that serve as expressions of cultural identity and heritage. - Social Practices, Rituals, and Festive Events
Shared activities that shape the social and spiritual lives of communities—such as initiation rites, funerals, seasonal festivals, and harvest celebrations. - Knowledge and Practices Concerning Nature and the Universe
Refers to traditional knowledge, beliefs, and practices developed through interaction with the natural world. This includes indigenous farming methods, architecture, animal husbandry, culinary traditions, and spiritual worldviews. - Traditional Craftsmanship
Focuses on the skills, techniques, and cultural knowledge involved in creating crafts. Examples include pottery, woodworking, jewelry making, embroidery, carpet weaving, textile production, and the crafting of musical instruments.
